Avengers Movie

This weekend at Comic-Con a star studded cast made an appearance to announce The Avengers movie!Robert Downey Jr.(Tony Stark/Iron man) Chris Evans(Steve Rogers/Captain America) Chris Hemsworth(Donald Blake?/Thor) Samuel L. Jackson(Nick Fury) Scarlett Johansen(Black Widow) Clark Gregg(Agent Phil Caulson) and the newly cast Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk and Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye all came out in full force. The crowds screamed and roared at easily the most infamous cast. It was a proud day for comic fans like me yet some still complained. No I'm not kidding. Some "fans" are saying they wont see it or that it will suck because there is no Ant-Man and Wasp. First off that's not 100% guaranteed. For those who don't know Ant-man/Hank Pym and Wasp/Janet Van Dyne are founding members of the original Avengers in the comics. They are interesting characters but by far are not the most essential to the movie. I'll be honest I'd love to see the whole group of Avengers on screen but as far as the movie goes not casting them makes sense. Their powers in the comic are basically to shrink really tiny or grow very large. Now for them to play out in a movie with the rest of those titanic mythic characters would first off mean they have to have an enemy that can actually be affected the their size changing abilities. So someone very large or small or needs to be disabled by small people so that would suck trying to find a fitting villain. Also another reason is with shrinking we'd have to draw away from the epic characters to show Honey I Shrunk The Kids graphics of small characters. Would you really look at that with awe alongside Iron Man. Also to grow large then we have this massive character that eclipses the others by comparison. Imagine a scene where the Avengers are fighting then suddenly a massive giant appears on screen saying "I'll lend a hand" do the other Avengers seem that tough now? However it can work if they say, have to infiltrate an enemy's base, or in the case of Skrulls, a ship, then their size changing would be great and cool and work really well together but otherwise it's not very fitting for the movie.

There are also people saying they won't see it cause of Mark Ruffalo as Banner or Chris Evans as Captain America. What is the deal?! Yeah it sucks Norton is gone and maybe they could have cast a better Captain I agree, but really people? You haven't even seen them try their hand at these roles yet(this is also happening with the Spider-man recast) and you're jumping the gun saying they'll suck! Mark Ruffalo is a good actor and Chris Evans in the movie Sunshine shows he's a great actor and leader. So just wait before you slam. Like i said in a previous post "Ill give Ruffalo a chance" and most importantly, the poeple saying they won't see Avengers for these reasons, you're really turning down a movie with this cast, mythos, and characters cause one is not who you like or one is missing? Wow that is ridiculous and I doubt that's real fandom. I mean look at this!

I personally couldn't be more excited for this movie as well as Captain America and Thor and will be on pins and needles till then.

As always thanks for reading

The Hulk Recast

At Comic-Con this weekend it was announced that The Hulk will be played by Mark Ruffalo for sure in the Avengers movie. As I said in my previous Hulk post I think Ruffalo will do alright and i still stand by that. However after some consideration I feel that sadly replacing Norton may have been the smart move. Norton does have a reputation of being "difficult" to work with in Hollywood but only in the sense that he always wants more done, like deeper character development, which as far as I'm concerned isn't a bad thing.( however he gripes when it doesn't go his way) However in a movie such as the Avengers where Banner(Norton's would be role) will be minimal, probably only a few scenes, and where every actor needs to be taken care of, Norton's attitude of wanting to rewrite scripts for better character development that HE feels are right(this is what happened in the first Hulk with Norton)would be an inconvenience and more than likely cause spats on set and slow production. I love Norton i really do i think he's a great actor and guy but he has made some arrogant moves, and trust me I did my research(3hrs.) and more than one director has made this claim of difficulty on Norton, the biggest one, at least relating to the Hulk was even though eventually the studio did allow him to write parts of the script, he later refused to promote the Hulk, which is kinda part of the whole acting in a movie thing. So maybe it is best for the big picture to change him. However I do stand by my statement that Marvel was being a massive group of D-bags when they made the statement "he didn't embody the role and they were looking for someone better". Dick move. He did embody the role, he just didn't embody the movie. And it also was about money as well im sure. But the bottom line seems to be they want someone who can go with the flow and do interpretations of their character but not mass rewrites like Norton. So it's a plays well with others scenario.

Like I said I love Norton I do, and heck he loves to create deep character develpoment so much that I think he should try directing I honestly think he would be amazing at that, and I really really really do wish they would have kept him for Avengers because he was the perfect Banner. But they didn't so we as a group of fans regardless of what happened, and we will never know cause these 2 groups will never sit down and tell their sides fully have to move on and realize the bigger picture. WE HAVE A FREAKING AVENGERS MOVIE!!! XD

P.S. Those thinking my reporting was one sided alot of my research came from Lois Letterier's(the director of the first Hulk with Norton) statements and he agreed with Norton on wanting more character development and was on his side but even his and Norton's statements say that Norton wanted to the script his way cause he felt he had a good grasp which kinda says he wants it to be his movie.

Norton Not Returning As Hulk For Avengers Movie

Cue the sad walking away song

Unfortunately it's true, it has been confirmed that Edward Norton will not be reprising his role as Bruce Banner in the upcoming Avengers movie. The reasons aren't exactly confirmable but more than likely this was about money. More likely not that Norton wanted to much, because he has been very excited to do this movie since the Hulk, but because Disney/Marvel wanted to pay as little as possible for the role of Banner since the Hulk is more the star in Avengers than Bruce. At least that's what it is in the comic. Whether or not that will be true in the movie will effect how angry i will be about Norton not returning. However they did have differences in the first movie. They got into a spat cause Norton wanted a more detailed Hulk story whereas Marvel wanted it doen quick. But i say whats wrong with having a guy love the character that much. It would have made the movie better if there was some more detail but whatever. Anyway, Marvel recently tried to paint Norton in a negative light so they didn't come out as bad guys, by saying he didn't embody the role or have the right stuff. Well from the amounts of angry comments and statements Marvel has received over that statement it seems that many disagree. I am one. I loved Norton's Hulk! He looked a lot like him, he was nerdy yet strong and he was easy to root for. Well according to his agent Norton had negotiated the role with Marvel then at the last minute they backed out and said they were going another direction. Norton being a sport holds no grudges and has posted this statement to his fans on facebook.

That statement right there seems to prove he was the right man for the job. However as much as i hate to say it Norton is gone. Period. I have to except it and move on. Now Marvel has already announced who they are getting to replace Norton.

That's right it's Mark Ruffalo. No I don't think this is the best choice but it's pretty good and looking on the bright side they could have done sooo much worse! Now Ruffalo does carry the timidness of Banner the occasional charm, and i could root for him and i do like his role in Shutter Island, and Just Like Heaven and so on. I think he'll be able to do this pretty well at least i hope.

My biggest concern is that they will change the way the Hulk looks to look like Ruffalo. PLEASE DON'T DO THAT MARVEL! IT WOULD BE A HUGE MISTAKE! Look I get replacing the actors I guess but changing the way the Hulk looked would be stupid. He has to carry over into Avengers and plus he looked so damn awesome! Other than that i will be able to deal. At least as long as it's 95% Hulk and 5% Banner otherwise i will feel like they totally jipped Norton. Whatever may come here's hoping that it's awesome!

Spider-man has been cast!

Finally Spider-man has been cast! Andrew Garfield will be the brand new Webhead in the upcoming Spider-man reboot. He is an American born british actor, that means his dad was American and he was born in America but his mum is British. Now lots of people have been trashing this upcoming movie saying it will be crap because it's not Toby Maguire or cause he's british or the other ones were so good, or why did the change all the actrs for the 4th movie? Well to state this plain and clear cause it's not being said clearly enough. This is a reboot of the whole series of Spider-man, it's not a 4th. This series will be closer to the comics so hopefully more like Spider-man unlike in the current movies, now it will be about Peter in highschool. That may be iffy but at least it will distinguish Spider-man's story from the rest of the Marvel heroes. Instead of another adult saving the world which i think will make it more liked by kids. Also the reasons for this reboot are: one that Sony needed to make a new Spidey movie or they had to sell rights back to Marvel, this is'nt solely a Marvel decision so don't get mad at them. Two, the last movie turned many off from the series because of Raimi's terrible work, i mean for gods sake he took the most notorious Marvel villain Venom and made him dull and unterrifying plus it became so corny and campy, so they needed to bring people back therefore the director change was neccessary, And three with the harrassment of Spider-man 3 the actors were less than enthusiastic to come back so they needed a new cast. Those bashing Garfield, he has big shoes to fill and with that weight on his shoulders im sure he'll give it his best. The movie may suck it may be amazing or just okay, but wait till the trailer before we judge.

Personally i think he will do great! I've seen him in his other roles such as Boy A and he is charming and can play awkward and funny and gawky and loving ansd sad all really well. Plus his crying face looks good versus Toby's 3 year old fat baby face cry from Spider-man 1&3. Not to mention Garfield does look pretty close to the part. Plus that looks like a guy you believe is nerdy and weak but at the same time could throw on that tough fight face. I can't wait for the reboot! Here's to hoping it's amazing.
